Rumor has it New York has the best pizza. This rumor was confirmed for me on a recent trip to Brooklyn’s Sottocasa.
This tiny gem is hidden just down a few steps off of Atlantic Avenue. On our trip to the restaurant we tried a full sampler of meats and cheeses served with the world’s finest rosemary focaccia bread. We followed our filling appetizer with pizza straight from a two ton wood burning oven…two tons! The thin pizza crust was doughy and crunchy all at the same time. We got the Quattro Staggioni which was generously topped with freshly made tomato sauce, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, thinly sliced Italian ham, and mushrooms. Seriously worth the carb-o-load. We were too stuffed to try the Nutella pizza for dessert but we can guarantee we will save room for the promise of gooey hazelnut goodness next time!
